Zambia & Ethiopia Team Up to Advance Digital Identity Systems

Zambia and Ethiopia have joined forces to advance digital identity systems, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This collaboration seeks to enhance access to vital services and fortify governance in both nations. The agreement aligns with the African Union's Agenda 2063, fostering home-grown digital identity solutions for Africa's integration and development.

The partnership aims to bolster government transparency and accountability through digital identity systems. Digital identity is increasingly recognised as crucial in today's economy, unlocking access to healthcare, education, banking, and social services.

The MoU was signed by Zambia's Ministry of Finance and Ethiopia's Ministry of Innovation and Technology. While the search results do not reveal who leads the SMART Zambia Institute involved in this partnership, the collaboration is expected to drive progress in both countries' digital identity landscapes.

The MoU between Zambia and Ethiopia marks a significant step towards advancing digital identity systems in Africa. By promoting home-grown digital identity solutions, the partnership contributes to the African Union's Agenda 2063 and paves the way for enhanced access to essential services and stronger governance.
