Young learners initiate a fresh academic year within various schools scattered throughout Kuwait
The 2025-2026 academic year in Kuwait has begun on a positive note, with the Ministry of Education taking significant steps to ensure a smooth start.
Security agencies have intensified their field efforts, particularly in areas surrounding schools, to ensure smooth traffic flow, especially near educational institutions such as schools and kindergartens. Personnel are deployed at main roads and intersections to regulate traffic and secure safe student access. This initiative is part of a broader campaign aimed at promoting safety, citizenship, respect for laws, and preservation of public property.
The campaign, titled "Our Students Are a Nation's Treasure," also focuses on developing safety skills such as fire prevention and the proper use of electrical appliances. Additionally, it aims to raise awareness among students, parents, and teachers about safe behaviour, prevention of violence and bullying, and the risks of drugs and cybercrime.
The Ministry of Education has distributed a total of 4.115 million textbooks for the 2025-2026 academic year. These textbooks are now available for middle school students, with the remaining quantities in their final printing stages and being dispatched directly to the ministry's warehouses for immediate distribution. The distribution follows a first-come, first-served system.
Classes for the remaining elementary, middle, and high school grades commenced today, with first-grade students across all educational districts beginning their classes on Monday, marking the official start of the academic year. Kindergartens are scheduled to open tomorrow.
Interestingly, these textbooks are not only available in physical form but also through the Ministry's online library and students' Teams accounts. The ministry has also provided full electronic versions of all textbooks, which are accessible on the ministry's official website, electronic library, and students' Microsoft Teams accounts. However, e-books are not mentioned in this context.
The ministry has worked diligently to ensure a stable and effective start to the academic year, providing a welcoming atmosphere for students. The number of students enrolled in public and private schools at all educational levels has reached about 520,000.
The national awareness campaign continues in cooperation with several government agencies, working together to make this academic year a safe and successful one for all students in Kuwait.
