University Selects Yira Brimage to Head their Gilbert (Arizona) Branch Campus
Yira Brimage, a seasoned education leader with over two decades of experience, has been appointed as the Vice President of Park University's Gilbert (Ariz.) Campus, effective from November 15, 2021.
Brimage's career in higher education began at Arizona State University, where she spent nine years in undergraduate admissions for various campuses and student affairs for the ASU East (now Polytechnic) Campus. She then moved on to Maricopa Community Colleges, where she held various roles for 14 years.
At Maricopa Community Colleges, Brimage served as vice president of student affairs at Phoenix College from 2010 to 2014, associate dean of enrollment services from 2000 to 2005, dean of student affairs from 2005 to 2009, and acting vice president of student affairs at Scottsdale Community College from 2009 to 2010.
In her role as vice president, Brimage will be responsible for leading the strategic growth and operations of the campus. This includes academic programming, market development, community relations, fundraising, enrollment growth, student services, student academic support, student engagement, and athletic program development and growth.
Brimage's commitment to the community is evident in her various roles outside of higher education. She has served as a liaison with the Tucson Urban League and Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and as a board member with the University of Arizona Campus Christian Center, Wesley Fontera, Paiute Neighborhood Center in Scottsdale, Ariz., and Chandler-Gilbert (Ariz.) Arc.
Beyond her current role, Brimage is also actively pursuing her Doctorate of Education degree in educational leadership from Northern Arizona University, with an expected graduation in Spring 2022.
Brimage Consulting, a company she previously owned and operated in Tucson, specializes in working with educational, health care, and small businesses to prepare their workforces with competency-based skill development.
Brimage's dissertation, titled "Latina Leadership in Community College," provides valuable insights into her academic focus and commitment to diversity and inclusion in education leadership.
While detailed information about Brimage's career history and achievements in higher education leadership in Arizona may not be widely available, her appointment at Park University's Gilbert Campus underscores her significant contributions to the field.
