The Unveiling of the "High Pressure Zone" at Bürgerhaus

In the heart of Ingolstadt, the "Engaged City" project is nearing its conclusion, marking a significant milestone in the city's journey towards sustainable communities. Initiated by the Volunteer Center Ingolstadt and the Sustainability Department in 2024, the project has been a collaborative effort to empower young people and foster cooperation among diverse social and cultural backgrounds.

The project will culminate on September 28, 2024, with a vernissage and Hip-Hop Day. The vernissage for the "High Pressure Area" exhibition, curated by the youth themselves, will take place at Bürgerhaus Alte Post at 11:30 AM. The exhibition, which can be visited from September 29 to October 19, will showcase the works of artists including Kati Heck, Charlotte Isaak, Monika Baer, and Julian Charrière, as well as pieces created through workshops in the Gelliprint technique led by artist Daniel Malun Lange.

In addition to the exhibition, a Hip-Hop Day for children and youth aged 10 to 18 will take place on the same day. Registration for this event can be done at [email protected]. Further information about the program can be found on the website of INfreestyle e.V.

The focus of the "Engaged City" project extends beyond the arts, with a particular emphasis on sustainability. The expanded print workshop, organised by Kunst und Kultur Bastei e.V., has focused on sustainability through printing and upcycling clothing, as well as preserving intangible cultural heritage.

The Bertelsmann Foundation is supporting projects by young people from eleven engaged cities under the title "Youth Engagement for Sustainable Communities" in 2024/2025. The "Engaged City" project in Ingolstadt is part of this larger initiative.

Throughout the project, the youth involved have expressed a desire for more visibility of offers for young people and more consumption-free spaces for community and creative expression in their city. The project organisers, INfreestyle e.V. and the Children and Youth Art School Kunst und Kultur Bastei e.V., have been awarded remaining project funds to continue their work in this direction.

The "Engaged City" project concludes with a networking opportunity for project partners Kunst- und Kultur Bastei e.V., INfreestyle e.V., and the Volunteer Center during the vernissage and lunch during the Hip-Hop Day (12 PM to 4 PM). This event promises to be a celebration of the achievements of the project and a look towards the future of sustainable communities in Ingolstadt.
