**Park University News: February and March Highlights**
In late January, stories about vandalism at Washington Chapel C.M.E. Church in Parkville, Mo., made headlines in local news outlets such as The Kansas City Star, Flatland KC / Kansas City PBS, and KMBC-TV/KCWE-TV. However, there is much more to look forward to at Park University this month.
**Music and Lectures**
The International Center for Music at Park University will host five concerts during February and March as part of its 2022-23 season schedule. Highlights include performances by the ICM Orchestra on February 17 and March 31, and a concert featuring Stanislav and Friends on March 11 at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.
On February 16, Dr. Andrea Hendricks, Ed.D., will present a talk on "Bold Inclusion for Greatness - The Journey" at 10 a.m. in the Jenkin and Barbara David Theater inside Alumni Hall. On the same day, the University will also host a Black History Month Lecture with Dr. Hendricks, titled "Bold Inclusion for Greatness: The Journey."
On February 23, Andrea Lee, Ph.D., Park University associate professor of fine art and director of the Campanella Gallery, will present a talk related to the history of African American art at 6 p.m. in the Norrington Center Learning Lab.
**Academic Achievements**
Park University's Bachelor of Science degree programs in sport and exercise science have been recognised through the National Strength and Conditioning Association's Education Recognition Program.
Sawyer Smith, a senior biology major, has been honored by the Society of Toxicology with a SOT Undergraduate Research Award for his research on "Delayed Liver Regeneration and Enhanced Neutrophil Recruitment after Severe Acetaminophen Overdose in Female Mice."
Nicholas Miceli, Ph.D., associate professor of management/human resources, co-authored an article titled "High Prevalence of Cardiac Amyloidosis in Clinically Significant Aortic Stenosis: A Meta-Analysis" for the December 2022 edition of the journal Cardiology Research.
**Awards and Recognition**
Park University was ranked No. 4 by the Kansas City Business Journal on its list of colleges and universities, ranked by fall 2022 enrollment in the Kansas City area, and No. 4 on its list of MBA programs in the Kansas City area, also ranked by local fall 2022 enrollment.
The university's Online Master's Degrees in Educational Leadership, Educational Technology, and Adult Education have been ranked among the best in the country for 2023.
**Community Engagement**
Park University's McAfee Memorial Library offers a monthly "How-To Tuesday" virtual webinar series to support students, faculty, and staff with research questions. The library will also host a movie screening and discussion of the film "I Am Not Your Negro" on February 22.
Kay Barnes, senior director for university engagement, has been selected to serve as the honorary chair for the Downtown Council of Kansas City's 2023 annual luncheon.
