Tech & Learning Summit Honours Innovators in EdTech
The Tech & Learning Leadership Summit in California recently concluded, honouring exceptional educators and administrators for their innovative use of technology in education. The event featured insightful discussions and recognised outstanding leaders in the field.
The summit's keynote focused on making educational technology more accessible, while a student panel explored the opportunities presented by esports. Attendees also had the chance to tour UCI's pioneering esports arena.
The awards ceremony, the California Tech & Learning Innovative Leader Awards, recognised several remarkable individuals. Sophia Mendoza, Director of Instructional Technology at Los Angeles Unified School District, took home the Best Overall Implementation of Technology award. Known for challenging the status quo and empowering her team, Mendoza has driven significant innovation in her district.
Other winners included Robert Sidford, Director of Technology and Innovation at Mt. Diablo Unified School District. Sidford was recognised for his strategic technology planning, successful 1-to-1 program implementation, and improved IT service management. Meanwhile, Ling Lam, Director of Education Technology at Helios School, won for her work in bridging the gap between tech and instruction, emphasising social-emotional learning and student well-being.
In the realm of data privacy, Steve Harmon, Sergio Rizzi, and Bruce Neff, EdTech Specialists at Oak Grove Union School District, were honoured for their comprehensive student data privacy protocols and advocacy.
