Subsidized Private Gardens for Parents Initiated by Sagintayev: Application Process Begins in February

Almaty, Kazakhstan - In a bid to significantly reduce the queue for kindergarten places and ensure affordable education for all, Almaty's Akim, Bakytzhan Sagintayev, has announced plans to subsidize food expenses for children in private kindergartens with a state educational order.

According to the Education Department's head, Lazzat Zhylkibaeva, the subsidy will amount to 18,900 tenge per child, with the total parental fee for food and additional education not exceeding 60,000 tenge per month. The subsidy will be funded by the local budget and will apply regardless of the child's age.

The number of places will be determined by the number of funds allocated. It's worth noting that the additional subsidy of 18,900 tenge for food will only be for additional places.

The state educational order has been placed in 397 private kindergartens, amounting to 28,000 tenge per child per month. To be eligible for the subsidy, private kindergartens must comply with the material and technical base of the preschool organization with the normative-legal acts in the field of preschool education.

Sanitary and epidemiological norms must also be observed in the preschool organization. High parent satisfaction levels are a requirement, to be determined through an online survey of parents.

While the specific criteria for Almaty's private kindergartens to receive subsidies for food expenses have not been fully disclosed, general knowledge of such subsidy programs in Kazakhstan suggests that they are typically granted to institutions through a formal application or selection process. Criteria might include having a valid license and state educational order agreement, compliance with sanitary and nutritional standards, demonstrating financial need or serving children from low-income families, and reporting requirements and transparency in fund use.

Applications for the subsidy are expected to start in early February. For precise information regarding the subsidy program, it is recommended to consult the Almaty city education department’s official communications or the Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan.
