SFAS Planning Four-Day Selection Trials for Candidates
Starting next month, the Saint Francis of Assisi School (SFAS) has announced its basketball tryouts for students from incoming Grade 7 to Grade 11. The tryouts will be held at the SFAS basketball court in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City, on May 31st, June 1st, 7th, and 8th, 2025, commencing at 3 p.m.
All students, regardless of their school affiliation, are invited to participate in the four-daytryouts. Coach Danilo Alicaba, also the sports director at SFAS, shared that qualified students may receive substantial tuition assistance, as the school offers scholarships.
The SFAS Ravens team has been a consistent participant in local basketball tournaments in Cebu, with their 14-under team reaching the finals of the Cebu Youth Basketball League (CYBL) last year. The Ravens also participate in the Private Schools Developmental League, National Youth Basketball League, Hoop Kids, Marca, Cabca, Cebu City District Meet, and Unit Meet.
Coach Alicaba highlighted that SFAS reinforces its core values, namely integrity, respect, responsibility, and an emphasis on physical, mental, and spiritual well-being among its athletes. The school also supports athletes participating in other sports, such as athletics.
