Securing Journeys to Academia: A Focus on School Commutes
In the spirit of annual safety initiatives, the KRÜGER GROUP and IP GL have joined forces to enhance the safety of first-graders in Bergisch Gladbach. This year, 1,070 schoolchildren, who began their schooling on August 28 at one of the 20 municipal primary schools in the city, received neon-green reflective safety vests.
Designed for good visibility in road traffic, especially during the darker seasons, these vests will make the children noticeable much earlier, contributing to more safety on the school path. The KRÜGER GROUP, a local company, provided funding for the vests in 2025.
Willi Schmitz, one of the two managing directors of IP GL, and Nurten Bongard, Senior Communication Manager of the KRÜGER GROUP, have expressed their gratitude for the children, parents, and teachers of the primary schools. They believe the vests will provide an additional safety measure in road traffic.
The official handover of the safety vests to the first-graders of the Paffrath Community Primary School will take place on September 17, 2025, during the European Mobility Week. The ceremony, scheduled for 10:00 AM on the schoolyard of the GGS Paffrath, will be attended by school management, all first-graders, managing directors of IP GL, and representatives of the KRÜGER GROUP.
The remaining primary schools will receive the safety vests from the 37th week onwards for distribution to the respective entrance classes, either by GL-Service gGmbH or the police.
IP GL, the lead agency for traffic safety measures in Bergisch Gladbach, has been working with local sponsors to increase the safety of first-graders and equip them with reflective safety vests. The KRÜGER GROUP is pleased to contribute to the safety of first-graders in Bergisch Gladbach and give parents and children a good feeling at the start of the day.
The donation of reflective vests is an annual initiative by the KRÜGER GROUP and IP GL to improve the safety of first-graders in Bergisch Gladbach. The vests are intended to help first-graders walk to school safely, especially during the darker seasons.
