Russia's Education Minister Outlines AI Integration Guidelines
Sergei Kravtsov, Russia's Minister of Education and Science, has outlined guidelines for AI integration in education. He stresses that AI should augment, not replace, teachers and should be carefully monitored.
Kravtsov stated, 'AI and technologies can never replace a teacher.' Instead, AI should reduce routine workload, foster cognitive and social skills, and encourage critical thinking. The ministry has set these as key requirements for AI in education.
Kravtsov also emphasized the need for cautious use of AI, ensuring it does not lead to dependence. He is considering developing a domestic AI system, similar to Gemini, to support both teachers and students.
Notably, educational ministries and higher education institutions play a crucial role in AI integration. Vietnam's Ministry of Education and Training, for instance, has mandated universities to innovate STEM programs including AI and create virtual spaces for AI in education.
The Ministry of Education and Science has provided clear guidelines for AI in education, prioritizing teacher support and careful implementation. Sergei Kravtsov is exploring the development of a domestic AI system, akin to Minecraft, to aid both teachers and students, with educational institutions playing a key role in this process.
