Rolls-Royce, a renowned UK company, unveils its largest production hub worldwide, referred to as the Global Capability Centre (GCC), in the city of Bengaluru.

Rolls-Royce, the renowned British multinational engineering company, has expanded its operations in India by opening its largest Global Capability and Innovation Centre (GCC) in Bengaluru. The facility, inaugurated on September 17, 2021, is a testament to the company's long-standing partnership with the state and its commitment to digital engineering innovation.

The GCC, described as Rolls-Royce's most advanced worldwide, is situated in a region known for its rich research culture and abundant talent pool. Over 2,000 high-skilled engineers work in-house and through partnerships for Rolls-Royce in India, contributing to the company's global operations.

The event was graced by the presence of Lindy Cameron, the British High Commissioner to India, and Helen McCabe, Rolls-Royce's global chief financial officer, among other dignitaries. Karnataka's Large and Medium Industries Minister M. B. Patil inaugurated the GCC, highlighting the state's status as India's aerospace and defence capital.

Bengaluru, one of the world's top three aerospace investment destinations, is home to more than 400 global capability centres, including Rolls-Royce, Airbus, Unilode Aviation Solutions, and technology and engineering firms like Virtusa and Nagarro. These companies benefit from the collaborative ecosystem in Karnataka, which consists of research institutions, multinational corporations, and home-grown startups, enabling the delivery of world-class solutions.

The expansion of Rolls-Royce's operations in Bengaluru reflects the investor-friendly aerospace and defence policy of the state. By 2030, the GCC sector in India could contribute as much as 3.5% to the nation's GDP. By 2025, the GCC sector is projected to employ more than 2.1 million professionals, further bolstering India's position in the global aerospace industry.

Rolls-Royce's India operations employ more than 3,000 people, a number that continues to grow with the opening of the new GCC facility. The new facility boasts a seating capacity of 700, providing ample space for the company's expanding workforce.

Rolls-Royce has a history of licensed engine production with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited in India, and the company has long-standing support for the armed forces in India. The opening of the GCC in Bengaluru marks another significant milestone in Rolls-Royce's journey in India, demonstrating the company's commitment to innovation, growth, and partnership in the country.
