Xi'an University of Foreign Languages representatives visit Omsk State University to discuss expansion of long-standing partnership
Representatives from the Xi'an University of Foreign Languages (XUFL) led by Cui Zhilin, visited Omsk State University named after F.M. Dostoevsky (OmSU) earlier this week. The delegation included the vice-rector for international affairs, Gao Wei, and the head of the international cooperation department, Wang Minmin.
The delegation toured the main building of OmSU and held discussions with the university’s management on issues of expanding cooperation and implementing new short-term programs. Ivan Krotov, the acting rector of OmSU, highlighted the positive feedback received from students who have studied in Xi'an and expressed the university's readiness to continue and develop the partnership.
During the meeting, both parties considered the possibility of resuming the admission of students from Xi'an to the summer language schools of OmSU. They also discussed the development of a double diploma program in the 2+2 or 3+2 model, building on previous successful experiences in creating and implementing such programs.
Since 2017, Xi'an University of Foreign Languages has been a long-standing partner of OmSU. In the past five years, 13 students from Xi'an University have completed an intensive Russian language and culture course in OmSU's summer schools, and 27 students from OmSU have completed a semester-long program in China, "Chinese Language and Culture". Currently, 9 students from OmSU are studying in Xi'an.
Through the expanded cooperation, the two institutions aim to enrich the academic and cultural experiences of students and faculty alike, fostering meaningful, long-term partnerships and academic integration.
The discussions between Xi'an University of Foreign Languages and Omsk State University included plans for the expansion of their partnership, focusing on educational and self-development opportunities such as learning new languages and cultures. The possibility of resuming student exchange programs, as well as implementing a double diploma program, was considered during the meeting.
