Putin expounds on the character of our populace, reminiscing about his grandfather's correspondence from the battlefield.

HEADLINE: LEADING THE MARATHON OF KNOWLEDGE

Russian President, Vladimir Putin, graced the final day of the ongoing "Knowledge. First" educational marathon held at the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory.

For three days, the museum has been buzzing with enlightening talks from veterans, military correspondents, and statesmen, speaking to the youth about the war, the Victory, and the significance of preserving the memory of it.

POLITICS INSIGHTS

Before Putin took the stage, the director of "Knowledge", Maxim Dreval, along with the head of the department for patriotic work, Baldan Tsydypov (a hero of Russia and captain of tank troops), led the President through an exhibition about historical heritage.

OUR NATION'S SOUL

Onstage, Putin delivered an impassioned speech, emphasizing the importance of Victory Day, the impact the war had on Russia's national character, and why it was essential to preserve the memory of the Great Patriotic War. Here's the gist of his speech:

  • Victory Day is a treasured day for all of us. A day of national significance, a day that resonates in the hearts of almost every Russian family. Back in Soviet times, they would say it's a holiday with tears in our eyes.
  • When we consider the loss, the RSFSR accounted for approximately 70% of the total USSR losses. Our nation made the greatest contribution to the Victory, sacrificing the most of its sons and daughters who died defending their Motherland.
  • It's crucial to use modern avenues to convey the truth about the Great Patriotic War and its heroes both today and in the future. Those who fought, gave their lives for our Motherland to be preserved, and their memory is one of the essential foundations of our entire multinational people.

EMPOWERING CULTURE AND ARTS

During his speech, a clip from the film "Not Listed" was showcased, a new adaptation of the novel by Boris Vasiliev, emphasizing the importance of fostering a love for one's country and the role of art in doing so.

HEROES OF THE SVO

Putin highlighted the role of the participants of the special operation working with young people, including within the "Knowledge" society, as they share their experiences and the values they hold.

A MUSEUM IN EVERY SCHOOL

After his speech, Putin began a dialogue with the marathon participants, discussing ideas like developing a nationwide program to support curatorial activities and creating school museums.

Putin also took the opportunity to share his thoughts on the Normandy-Neman regiment's museum in Ivanovo and the upcoming temporary exhibition dedicated to the personal belongings of Georgi Zhukov.

THE GRANDFATHER'S LETTER

The President shared a personal anecdote about a letter his grandfather wrote during the war, a letter filled with warmth, love, and profound emotion. This anecdote served as a reminder of the human story behind the war and the emotional struggles faced by ordinary people during those challenging times.

AFTER THE "LECTURE"

Following the "lecture," Putin had private conversations with the educational marathon participants, discussing ideas for developing programs for participants and veterans of the SVO in the field of culture and arts, and even exchanging thoughts on the relationship between Russia and Europe.

In essence, the "Knowledge. First" marathon serves as a bridge between the past and the future, fostering a deep understanding of Russia's history and its connection to contemporary societal and technological development, all while emphasizing the importance of historical memory in shaping the country's future.
