Une Enchanting Evening at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts

Potential persistence in certain circumstances

Stop feeling down and lift your spirits with a visit to the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA). Step into a surreal world created by the remarkable artist, Alan Glass, who is best known for his Mexican reliquaries. Imagine stepping into a fairy tale with his eccentric objects housed in large-format cases - think cabinet of curiosities! The MMFA's current exhibition, Worlds and Wonders, will take your breath away and is a must-see.

I even considered spending a night at the museum to immerse myself deeper in the artist's world. The MMFA confirmed that the idea isn't purely mine, as Alan Glass's collection includes 22 books, chronicling the experiences of writers who have slept in famous cultural institutions. Sleep under the stars (or museum lights) in Amsterdam, Paris, Venice, Barcelona, Madrid - you name it! Here in Montreal, it's a possibility too.

Let's not forget about the upcoming exhibition of the renowned Niki de Saint Phalle at the National Museum of Fine Arts of Quebec (MNBAQ) this summer. I'll be dreaming right alongside her, promising to brush my teeth and prioritize preserving the art. After watching the film Niki with Charlotte Le Bon, I can't wait to see her work in person.

To unlock my creativity, I purchased a box of cards by performance artist Marina Abramovic - a truly unique exercise method, with quirky suggestions like walking backwards with a mirror or complaining to a tree! I highly recommend this for all museum administrators who need a fresh perspective.

Truly, sometimes you have to think like an artist to see the world differently.

Joining the 1%

For the first time, I am a part of the 1%. However, it doesn't mean I'll stop paying taxes or become reckless. I won't be blasting off to space aboard Space X to cry over the planet's destruction. I'll still do my part and support eco-friendly causes.

I voted for the green candidate in my town, despite their slim chances in a sea of liberals. I'll remain a compassionate voter, standing by those excluded from mainstream politics.

Sadly, neither the Liberal Party nor the Conservative Party responded to the environmental questionnaire submitted by Vire au vert, which united about twenty eco-organizations, outlining their priorities.

I am now part of the 1%, and it's testing my convictions. I worry about the endless cycle of wealth clinging to power.

I salvaged two phrases about lucidity from two different theater pieces this spring. René Char says, "Lucidity is the wound closest to the sun," while dominant AI cannot be profitable. Choose the phrase that resonates with you. Together, they argue strongly for skepticism or the madness of believing in lies.

It's philosopher Hannah Arendt who reminds us that deception never conflicts with reason, as things could have potentially unfolded as the deceiver claims[1]. Lies can often be more plausible and alluring to reason because the liar has anticipated what the public desires or expects.

Benevolence and Empathy

My quest to assist those in need still continues. After months of waiting, I am still eagerly anticipating my chance to do grocery shopping for seniors through a benevolence center. I'm ready to offer my services with the same dedication as a surgeon without an operating room, passing the time through crafts like knitting.

In the realm of mental health, the series Empathy has been making waves for its thoughtful exploration of suffering and friendship within a psychiatric ward. With compelling performances and insightful writing, this series is a testament to the universal struggle we all face.

Since leaving Netflix, I've discovered other inspiring Quebec series that delve into mental health, enhancing character development.[END]
