Palatine Elizabeth's Vocational College Honored as a "Healthy School"
In the heart of North Rhine-Westphalia, several schools have been honoured for their commitment to health and wellbeing. The Elisabeth von der Pfalz Berufskolleg, alongside other esteemed institutions, has been awarded the "Healthy School in the Wittekindskreis" certificate.
The award ceremony, held on September 17, 2025, at the Herforder Löhrstraße, was attended by Renata Lleshi, Nadine Passarger, and Patrik Kasparak, who were recognised for their contributions. Renata Lleshi, the contact for the "Healthy Schools" program, can be reached at 05221 13-2419 or r.lleshi@unser website.
The Elisabeth von der Pfalz Berufskolleg has been actively engaging students in health-promoting activities with external experts. These activities cover a wide range, from prevention of eating disorders and substance abuse, relaxation and exercise, first aid measures, to healthy international cuisine.
Pascal Kramer, a sports scientist and trainer in the "link moves" program, led some students through exercises designed to improve coordination, concentration, learning ability, and motivation. These exercises can be particularly beneficial during stressful learning phases.
Not all children and young people are taught at home about the importance of health, and schools play a vital role in this regard. Health is considered a crucial prerequisite for successful learning, personal development, and social participation.
The Grundschulen in Westerenger and Löhne-Obernbeck, as well as the Erich-Kaestner-Gesamtschule in Bünde and Kirchlengern, have also been awarded this year. These schools have implemented at least three health-promoting measures and one measure for the health of teaching staff during the project period.
The "Healthy Schools in the Wittekindskreis" program, supported by the Kreis-Gesundheitsamt for nine years, offers assistance in implementing health promotion and prevention activities. Schools interested in the program can contact the business office of the Gesundheitskonferenz or Renata Lleshi for more information about the current school year.
The information provided by the business office of the Gesundheitskonferenz includes free individual and group offers for students and teaching staff. A health day was organized for teaching staff at the Elisabeth von der Pfalz Berufskolleg, covering topics such as nutrition counseling, resilience, time management, ergonomics, and individual diagnostics.
The institution that awarded Renata Lleshi, along with Nadine Passarger and Patrik Kasparak, is the District Health Office. The program aims to teach children and young people about the importance of health and encourage them to take action. It's a commendable initiative that underscores the importance of health in our daily lives, particularly in the educational setting.
