North Black Forest's junior economics students choose new district representatives
In the heart of the Black Forest, the city of Pforzheim is making strides towards becoming a regional hub. This was emphasised by Mayor Peter Boch at a recent meeting, where he also conveyed greetings from the city.
The event, attended by around 50 participants from the Economic Juniors and the "Friends of Economic Juniors", marked a successful year for the organisation. Sven Hämmler, the new district speaker of the Economic Juniors North Black Forest, took over the leadership role from Friedel Völker after a proper election, receiving 13 out of 15 votes (two abstentions).
The success of the year was highlighted by the BarCamp Pforzheim, an event that was financially supported by the Economic Juniors, leading to increased sponsorship income and positive feedback. The event's success was such that it has been decided to support it again this year.
Sven Hämmler, in his address, outlined the event program for the year 2018, with a focus on joint and sociable events, Multi-Ressort-Meetings, and events with external speakers. The theme for the year's program is "One for all, all for one".
Mayor Boch also touched upon the importance of digitization and the construction of broadband connections, with increasing demand from citizens. He plans to create an additional 100 hectares of industrial land in the next few years to support this digital growth.
The long-term importance of Pforzheim as a regional center is growing due to the predicted merging of the Karlsruhe and Stuttgart metropolitan areas. Boch reiterated that the city can only be as good as the surrounding towns, emphasising the need for collaboration and unity.
The meeting concluded with the presentation of awards. Matthias Schönfuss received the Golden District Pin of Economic Juniors North Black Forest for his contributions, while Björn Greber received the Silver Junior Pin of the Federal Association of Economic Juniors for his efforts.
As the city looks towards the future, the success of the Economic Juniors and the support of the local government bode well for Pforzheim's continued growth and development.
