The National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has announced the introduction of two unique modules on Operation Sindoor for students in India. These modules, targeting classes 3 to 8 and 9 to 12, aim to educate students about India's strategic military response to the Pahalgam terror attack that occurred in May 2025.

Each module will be approximately 8 to 10 pages long and is designed as supplementary educational materials beyond regular textbooks. The modules focus on Operation Sindoor, the precision strikes launched by India on May 7, 2025, targeting terror camps across the Line of Control (LoC) in response to the Pahalgam terror attack.

The first module, for students in Classes 3 to 8, provides an age-appropriate account of the events, while the second, more detailed module is intended for Classes 9 to 12. The modules will educate students about India’s military power, strategic defense capabilities, and the coordinated response by the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force during Operation Sindoor.

The purpose of these lessons is to instil a sense of patriotism by highlighting how India successfully countered terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) following the Pahalgam massacre. The modules will also help students understand the importance of national security, defense diplomacy, and coordination between government ministries in responding to terror threats.

The NCERT offers distinct modules on various subjects, including COVID-19 and its effects on social life and public health, "India's digital success and power," the Chandrayaan-3 mission, the 2023 G20 conference in India, and "Swachhata." These new modules on Operation Sindoor are part of this ongoing effort to create thematic modules on important contemporary issues.

The modules on Operation Sindoor are expected to be released soon and will complement NCERT’s existing range of special modules on key national and global themes. These materials are a valuable addition to the education system, providing students with a deeper understanding of India's military actions and the importance of national security.
