Multiple Events Planned for European Mobility Week in Hürth

Hürth Hosts European Mobility Week with Variety of Activities

Hürth, a city in North Rhine-Westphalia, is set to host the European Mobility Week from September 16th to 22nd. The event, focused on sustainable mobility and traffic safety, will take place in Hürth Park and offer a range of activities for different age groups and interests.

The week-long celebration will include a Mobility Day on September 19th, which will kick off at 10 a.m. with a bus training for seniors offered by Stadtwerke Hürth and the Regionalverkehr Köln. This training is designed for those who want to refresh their knowledge of current traffic rules and traffic signs.

On the same day, the traffic safety measures during the European Mobility Week are financially supported by the Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation and Traffic of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The traffic safety actions are organized and supported by Zukunftsnetz Mobilität NRW and its partners, which assist selected pilot municipalities such as Krefeld, Lünen, and Jülich in planning and implementing these actions.

The traffic musical 'Unbuckled' by Theater Till will also be a highlight of the Mobility Day. This playful and amusing production encourages more movement in daily school life and teaches the correct behavior in road traffic. Hürth primary school classes will have the opportunity to participate in this traffic musical on September 22nd.

For those interested in cycling, bike tours will be available throughout the week. Children can color their own reflective vest at a stand of the city of Hürth, and Stadtwerke Hürth and Regionalverkehr Köln will inform about the sustainable mobility offerings of public transport. The bookstore Thalia and the UCI cinema will also participate with selected theme tables and movie programs, respectively.

On September 18th, a relaxed culinary bike tour for active cyclists aged 50 and above will take place, organized by the traffic safety advisor of the Rhein-Erft police district. Registration is required at andreas.wiesnerpolizei.nrwde.

Seniors can participate in a driver safety training, but prior registration via email to mobilitaetunsere websitede is recommended. The roll-over simulator by the Verkehrswacht Rhein-Erft will be available from 11 a.m. for visitors to practice how to free themselves from the life-saving safety belt in an upside-down car.

The Wendelinusschule in Berrenrath will participate in the 'Walk to School' action during the European Mobility Week. The city of Hürth is also hosting an event called the European Mobility Week from September 19th.

In addition, from September 16th to 20th, the Hürth city library will display a book table with media on the topics of mobility, sustainability, and climate protection. On Saturday, children can also paint warning vests here.

The Kreispolizei Rhein-Erft will provide information about the dangers of driving under the influence of cannabis. On September 22nd, opticians in Hürth Park will offer vision checks.

Overall, the European Mobility Week events in Hürth offer a variety of activities, catering to different age groups and interests, and are supported by various local institutions, including the Wendelinusschule, the Hürth city library, and Theater Till.
