Milton Keynes Launches SkillUp MK to Boost Local Employability

Milton Keynes has launched SkillUp MK, a joint venture aiming to enhance local residents' employability. The platform, a pilot scheme in the city, offers courses in digital, leadership, and sustainability. Backed by Milton Keynes College Group, The Open University, Santander UK, and Milton Keynes City Council, it brings together expertise in online learning and local growth strategies.

SkillUp MK provides both online and in-person training, with a focus on future job skills. Courses cater to general workplace needs and specialized technical areas. The initiative is part of Milton Keynes' growth strategy, targeting younger residents to prepare them for future jobs. The Open University, headquartered in Milton Keynes, brings its online learning expertise to the platform.

The project has received endorsements from local MPs Chris Curtis and Emily Darlington. Santander UK is funding bursaries in collaboration with Milton Keynes College Group to expand access to sustainability and digital training at the city's Green Skills Centre.
