Erwin Lautwein's Continuing Education Initiative for Cyclists Expands with In-Person Events
Mastering the Art of Balance on Two Wheels: A Guide to Bicycle Riding
Starting from September or October, Erwin Lautwein’s popular continuing education initiative for cyclists will introduce in-person repair/maintenance and adjustment courses. These events aim to further empower cyclists with practical skills and enhance their overall cycling experience.
The initiative, launched by Erwin Lautwein, the head of continuing education at the ADFC Düsseldorf, has already seen great success with nine online events. The courses have received high interest since their launch, with participants coming from various regions, including NRW and other federal states.
The in-person events will take place across major NRW cities such as Düsseldorf, Cologne, Dortmund, and Münster. Monthly sessions will be scheduled through the summer and autumn, offering a range of workshops focusing on road safety, defensive cycling techniques, bike maintenance, and more.
Participants can expect hands-on work on their own bikes in the in-person repair/maintenance and adjustment courses. These sessions are designed to help cyclists gain the necessary skills to maintain their bicycles and ensure they are always in top condition for safe and enjoyable rides.
The goals of these continuing education courses remain the same: more fun, fewer breakdowns while cycling, higher traffic safety, and control of one’s own bicycle. Improved competencies in these areas are expected to make bicycles safer, reduce personal mistakes, and allow for safer and foresighted cycling.
A timely shoulder check can help avoid turning accidents, even with right of way. This is just one example of the valuable information that participants can gain from these courses.
For those interested in participating, contact information for event details and dates is available at 0211 15835150. The continuing education initiative is open to both the public and ADFC Düsseldorf members.
With the addition of in-person events, Erwin Lautwein anticipates a positive impact on road behavior, leading to fewer accidents and conflicts. The initiative continues to contribute to NRW’s goals for greener mobility and reduced carbon footprint, promoting sustainable transportation through cycling education.
Stay tuned for more updates on these exciting in-person events and join the movement towards safer and more enjoyable cycling!
