MacDiarmid Institute's DiscoveryCamp Scheduled for 2026
DiscoveryCamp 2026 is set to return in Auckland, New Zealand, offering a unique opportunity for Māori and Pacific Island students aged 12 and 13 to delve into the world of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Scheduled to take place from the 19th to the 23rd of January 2026, the event will be hosted at the University of Auckland.
This week-long camp is designed to provide a hands-on learning experience, with a focus on science exploration and cultural engagement. The programme includes laboratory experiences, workshops, interactive science projects, and cultural events, all aimed at fostering a keen interest in STEM fields.
Participants will also have the chance to network with university staff and industry professionals, gaining valuable insights into potential career paths. The event offers a culturally supportive environment that emphasises Māori and Pacific identity alongside academic growth.
The camp is free of charge, with all travel, accommodation, meals, and social activities included in the cost. Applications are now open, with the deadline set for the 17th of August 2025.
