Local administration boosts unity via instructional programs in childcare and textile manufacturing industries
In a bid to address the persistent shortage of skilled workers and trainees in the textile industry, the district of Regensburg is taking proactive steps to integrate migrants into the local job market.
District Administrator Tanja Schweiger has highlighted the importance of targeted training offers for migrants as a crucial step towards integration and securing a skilled workforce in the region. This initiative is part of a comprehensive package of measures, which includes visits to companies and institutions, job fairs, and training contracts and internships for migrants.
Recently, four migrants visited Fahnen Koessinger, a textile company in Schierling, with the aim of providing them with job prospects in the industry. Jasmin Wagner, head of embroidery at Fahnen Koessinger, expressed her pleasure with this form of employee acquisition. The visit was organized by Mahinar Sweid, the education acquisition manager of the district, and Roland Weiß, the economic developer of the district.
The visits to companies and institutions are not limited to the textile industry. The district has also visited several companies from various sectors as part of the integration initiative, although specific names have not been disclosed.
In addition to the visits, the package of measures includes a job fair for foreign auxiliary and service staff. The district office also hosts so-called 80-cent jobs and job-dating events for asylum seekers who, for legal reasons, cannot obtain a work permit.
The nursing home and school for the blind in Hemau view these opportunities for employee acquisition positively, especially in the care sector. Eight migrants visited these institutions with the aim of facilitating their entry into the German job market.
Training contracts and internships have been concluded with migrants willing to train. District Administrator Tanja Schweiger emphasized that these training offers are creating prospects for participants and strengthening the skilled workforce base in the region.

The district's efforts to integrate migrants into the regional job market are commendable. By providing opportunities for training and employment, the district is not only addressing the shortage of skilled workers but also fostering a more inclusive and diverse community.
