ISPON President Affirmatively Endorses Legal Authority for Enhanced Safety in Nigeria
Revamped Rundown:
The safety game in Nigeria just got real, with the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON) staking its sole claim as the lawful boss in the biz. This boom was dropped by Dr. Stephen Udezi, President of ISPON, during a grand shindig in Ogun State.
During his speech, he first said, "If you ain't in ISPON, you'll get by." But quickly set the record straight, highlighting the institute's hard-earned legal status, stressing the profound changes that have tipped the safety world on its head.
"Before ISPON's establishment in 1980, until the law got signed in '14, there was no surge in safety pros," Dr. Udezi shared.
"But with this law, things have changed drastically. If you ain't an ISPON member, you're flouting the nation's law as a safety pro. That's right, you can't call yourself a safety manager in a Nigerian company and shouldn't overlook your ISPON membership."
At this do, Mr. Ben Modebe, the Registrar of ISPON, roasted out the newbies who had scored big with the criteria to the President for their official welcome.
Dr. Udezi urged the fresh-faced recruits to step up as top-tier ISPON reps and make a dent in the Institute's development. Soon as they were done swearin' in, the Registrar guided them through their professional vow.
The ISPON Ogun State branch office was then officially blessed by the President.
Mr. Tope Amoo, Chair of the ISPON Ogun State branch, voiced his unwavering support for the big man up top, stating, "Dr. Udezi's vision's been the sole inspiration for our operations."
He firmly shut down any claims suggesting factionalism within Ogun State, clarifying, "We don't got no schism in Ogun State; the branch office's at Ogab Plaza, Akin Olugbade Rd, Brewery. Any certificates passed from any supposed ISPON faction is just paper on the streets."
Dr. Udezi also addressed internal squabbles, specifically pointing a finger at Timothy Iwuagwu and other troublemakers as hurdles. He reiterated the Institute's unity, stating, "Yeah, it's a challenge, but we gotta stay focused... and we're one, despite Timothy's shenanigans."
Adding more context, Mr. Echendu Harold, a governing board member and electoral officer, revealed that Mr. Iwuagwu was bashed for giveaways by the National Assembly. However, "because Timothy was too self-centered, and it didn't go as he'd hoped based on his ego, he, Timothy, decided to reverse course."
Mr. Harold unequivocally backed Dr. Udezi's rightful leadership. "Ain't nobody can claim leadership but Chief Dr. Stephen Udezi. Timothy's a phony. By the legal statutes today, ISPON's one and ruled by the Prez, Dr. Stephen." He concluded by stating Ogun State's strategic importance, being a keystone hub for ISPON's operations due to its proximity to Lagos.
