Increased expenses and significant investments earmarked for educational institutions in the 2024 Budget plan
Fürth District Unveils 2024 Budget: "Consistent. Challenging."
The district of Fürth has presented its budget for the year 2024, with a total volume of approximately 179.7 million euros. The budget, themed as "Consistent. Challenging.", outlines various investments and projects, as well as cost increases in several areas.
District Administrator Bernd Obst, who took office in the district, stated that the district is debt-free by the end of 2023. This financial stability is evident in the budget, which includes plans for loans of only 13.5 million euros in 2024.
One of the significant investments in the education sector is the expansion of Zirndorf Intermediate School, with an allocation of 8.5 million euros from 2025. The new construction of Langenzenn Intermediate School's sports hall will cost 9.95 million euros, starting from 2026. The general renovation of Langenzenn High School's sports hall will follow suit, costing 19 million euros, also from 2026.
The energy-efficient general renovation of Stein Gymnasium, completed at a total cost of 19.5 million euros, is another notable project in the education sector. The purchase of room modules at Langenzenn High School, Oberasbach High School, and Cadolzburg Support Center will also be undertaken, with costs of 3.02 million, 4 million, and 4.6 million euros, respectively.
The district's tax base has risen above average by 6.9 percent, with the district surcharge increasing by 5.0 percentage points to 46.5%. Strong cost increases in various areas, such as social services, personnel costs, public transportation, and the district surcharge, have made it difficult to balance the budget.
Despite these challenges, the budget includes continuation of projects in digitization and schools. The funds for the new construction of the Cadolzburg Gymnasium are mainly included in the financial plan, with a total cost of 69.7 million euros, and one million euros planned for 2024.
The construction project to expand the district administration in Zirndorf is also continuing, with a total cost of 36.5 million euros, of which 4.5 million euros will be incurred in 2024. The district will also have to pay more to the district of Mittelfranken, which is responsible for social tasks.
The budget discussions will take place in the district committee meeting on January 26, 2024, and the budget will be adopted in the district council meeting on February 5, 2024. The district employs around 550 employees.
However, there is no information available regarding the new District Administrator and Financial Officer of the city of Fürth for the year 2024 in the provided search results.
The 2024 budget of the district of Fürth was presented on December 11, 2023. The district's key allocations from the Free State of Bavaria are projected to increase by +0.65 million euros compared to 2023. The district of Fürth is above the average of the mid-Frankish districts (+2.7%) and above the average of all Bavarian districts (+4.8%).
