Bavarian Students Visit Ministry of Justice and State Chancellery
High school students from Munich visited the Palace of Justice and State Chancellery, where they met with the Minister of Justice.
In a day filled with learning and exploration, students from Ortenburg-Gymnasium's class 10d embarked on a journey to the heart of Bavaria's government. The visit was part of the "Learning Site Government" program, designed to familiarize students with the inner workings of state institutions.
The day began early as the students made their way to the Ministry of Justice and the Bavarian State Chancellery. Upon arrival, they were met by their Munich contact person, Christine Hofmann, at the Justice Palace at the Stachus. The historic building, dating back to the 19th century, houses not only the Ministry of Justice but also the Munich I Regional Court.
The students were greeted by Bavarian Minister of Justice, Professor Dr. Winfried Bausback. The minister, who was unexpectedly present during the students' inspection of his office, shared insights about the structure of the State Chancellery and the history of the building. He also discussed the importance of federalism in a democratic state, a topic that resonated with the curious minds of the young learners.
The students were allowed to sit at the large cabinet table where the state government usually holds its meetings, offering them a unique perspective on the decision-making processes of the government. They also had the opportunity to observe proceedings and engage in discussions with officials, enriching their understanding of governmental operations and civic responsibilities.
During their visit, the students were accompanied by their social studies teachers, Martina Lang and Konstantin Scharf, who facilitated the learning experience. The students inspected Minister Bausback's office and even had lunch in the ministry's canteen before setting off on their journey home in the late afternoon.
The visit to the Ministry of Justice and State Chancellery was a valuable educational experience for the students of Ortenburg-Gymnasium. It provided them with a firsthand look at the legal and administrative mechanisms of the state, fostering a deeper understanding of their civic duties and responsibilities. For many, it was a day they would remember for years to come.
In the ongoing pursuit of personal growth and learning, the students' visit to the Ministry of Justice and State Chancellery also served as an integral part of their education-and-self-development, providing a unique opportunity to explore the inner workings of the government. The day was filled with engaging discussions and enlightening insights, thereby offering them a deeper understanding of their civic roles and responsibilities, other than just academic knowledge.
