Heidelberg University Launches New Gender & Queer Studies Certificate
The University of Heidelberg is set to launch a new Certificate in Gender & Queer Studies from the winter semester 2025/2026. This four-semester program, under the heiSKILLS umbrella, is open to master's students and doctoral candidates from all fields. It aims to equip students with the tools to apply theoretical and methodological approaches of Gender & Queer Studies to diverse topics and recognize discrimination mechanisms.
The Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) will involve lecturers from various departments, including sociology, medicine, history, literary and linguistic studies, art history, and political science. Applications for the winter semester 2025/2026 are still open. Notably, the CAS includes a professionally qualifying internship in a thematically related field. While specific organizations or companies offering internships are not explicitly listed, relevant academic institutions may collaborate with local government entities and networks for such opportunities.
The focus of the certificate program is on gender relationships, concepts of gender, body, and sexuality. By offering this CAS, the University of Heidelberg seeks to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of Gender & Queer Studies and its practical applications. Interested students are encouraged to apply before the deadline.
