Heads and principals of British boarding schools embark on a trip to Accra, Ghana.

Twelve principal and senior leaders from various UK boarding schools will visit Accra in May for a meeting with parents, students, government ministers, and business leaders at the UK Boarding School Exhibition. The event, organized by educationalists Mark Brooks Education and Anderson Education, will take place at Kempinski Gold Coast City, Accra on May 7, 2022.

The exhibition, supported by the UK's Department for International Trade and British High Commission in Accra, aims to promote the benefits of a British boarding education among Ghanaian families, who have recently shown increased interest in this educational model.

"The UK and Ghana share common values, a thriving trade relationship, and a belief in the transformative power of an excellent all-round education with strong pastoral care," said Mark Brooks, one of the event's organizers.

Many successful Ghanaians in various fields, including academics, arts, commerce, law, medicine, music, politics, science, and sports, attribute their resilience, self-confidence, and success to the foundations they developed at a British boarding school.

According to Sara Sparling, a Director at Anderson Education, choosing a school is one of the most significant decisions parents make for their children. Careful exploration, research, and discussions with individual schools and specialist consultants can help ensure their children's full potential is achieved in a happy, safe, and secure environment.

The delegation includes a diverse range of 12 leading boarding schools, varying from single-sex institutions to co-educational ones, with different emphases on academics, character development, and adherence to either the traditional British curriculum or a more internationally focused approach.

Some of the participating schools are ACS Cobham, Bishops Stortford College, Bromsgrove School, Bruton School for Girls, Cardiff Sixth Form College, Earlscliffe College, Rochester Independent College, St. Andrew's College Cambridge, David Game College London, MPW Colleges, Westonbirt School, Wycliffe College, and Wells Cathedral School.

Anastasia Cotton, one of the participants from ACS International School Cobham, expressed her excitement about meeting new prospective students and their families at the UK Boarding Schools Week. She stated that Ghanaian and West African students have always made a considerable impact on life at ACS Cobham, and she eagerly awaits another chance to immerse herself in Ghanaian culture.

The free exhibition will be open from 11 am to 4 pm on Saturday, May 7, at the Kempinski Gold Coast City Accra, Ministries PMB, 66 Gamel Abdul Nasser Ave, Accra, Ghana. While there was a related event planned for October 5, 2022, any specific details regarding the May 7 event can be found by contacting the organizers or checking local educational event listings from that time.
