HCMUT and UTS initiate a shared bachelor's program in engineering for students residing on our web platform
UTS and HCMUT Welcome First Cohort for Transnational Education Program
The HCM City University of Technology (HCMUT) and the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) have announced the commencement of their Transnational Education (TNE) programme for a Bachelor of International Engineering degree. This joint initiative marks a significant step in the internationalization of education at HCMUT and reflects the university's long-term strategy to improve training quality, prepare human resources for Industry 4.0, and contribute to Vietnam's national key projects.
Among the admitted students, many demonstrated outstanding academic records, showcasing their potential for future success. The programme offers majors in AI and Information Technology, two high-demand fields critical to digital transformation.
UTS, ranked among the world's top 100 universities by QS, brings its prestigious reputation to the collaboration. Its Computer Science is ranked 17th, and AI is ranked fifth globally in the 2025 US News rankings. The curriculum for the programme is transferred from UTS and accredited by Engineers Australia, ensuring a high-quality education for the students.
The collaboration officially establishes the Australia-HCM City Institute of Advanced Technologies. Lecturers for the programme include both HCMUT professors and visiting UTS faculty, providing students with a diverse and comprehensive learning experience.
Students enrolled in the programme automatically join UTS's global network of over 44,000 students, opening up opportunities for academic exchange, international networking, and flexible transfer pathways to Australia.
To maintain the high standards of the UTS degree, English proficiency requirements were set at international standards. Tuition for the programme is set at VNĐ127.5 million (US$5,625) per semester, which is lower than full overseas study, making it an affordable option for many students.
Scholarships are being offered in the first year to attract and support outstanding talent. Applicants were admitted through three pathways: students who graduated from Vietnamese high schools, international high school graduates, and those with SAT scores.
The joint bachelor's programme reflects HCMUT's commitment to providing high-quality STEM education and contributes to Vietnam's strategy of cultivating a highly skilled workforce in priority technology fields. The programme allows students to study in HCM City at HCMUT while earning an international degree from UTS, providing them with a unique and valuable educational experience.
The 2025-26 academic year marks the programme's inaugural admission season, and the quality of applicants demonstrates both academic excellence and strong potential for future development. The collaboration between HCMUT and UTS is expected to deliver world-class training and further strengthen the ties between Vietnam and Australia in the realm of education and technology.
