Hamburg Launches 'Update Hamburg 2022' to Fund Social Innovations
Hamburg's Minister of Economics, Michael Westhagemann, has announced the launch of 'Update Hamburg 2022', a funding call under the city's Regional Innovation Strategy (RIS). This initiative aims to promote innovative solutions for societal coexistence, focusing on digital transformation, sustainable urban development, and climate-friendly technologies. Actors in socially innovative projects can apply for up to €100,000 in funding, with a total of €1.5 million available for the city.
The 'Update Hamburg 2022' program, themed 'Together for a livable city with innovations', is a successor to the successful 'Update Germany' format. It targets key regional challenges, particularly in digital infrastructure, smart urban solutions, and environmentally sustainable technologies. Applications are open until October 22, 2022, and can be submitted online at IFB Hamburg, the central point of contact for funding in Hamburg. The funding period starts in December 2022 and lasts for twelve months.
The funding call was created within the funding guideline 'Profi Impuls', broadening the definition of innovation beyond technology. IFB Hamburg advises on all funding offers from the city of Hamburg, the federal government, and the EU. The initiative aims to strengthen both financial support and professional exchange between the socially innovative community and Hamburg's authorities.
Actors in socially innovative projects, those oriented towards the common good, and civil society organizations are encouraged to apply. The city of Hamburg is supporting these initiatives with a total of €1.5 million, fostering innovative solutions for a more livable city.
