Government intervention dubbed "safety.mobile.life" focusing on child safety within mobile phone usage
The German traffic safety campaign, "sicher.mobil.leben," is gearing up for its 2025 focus, with a special emphasis on enhancing safety for children in road traffic. This initiative is part of a broader aim to improve mobility safety for all road users, with a particular focus on protecting vulnerable groups.
In Oberhausen, the local police force has been actively involved in this mission. They have organised child-focused traffic safety activities, including hands-on traffic training, teaching children how to navigate roads safely, recognise traffic signs, and behave correctly in traffic situations.
These efforts are in line with the 2025 campaign objectives to improve mobility safety for all road users, with a special emphasis on protecting vulnerable groups like children.
The children participating in these activities were well-prepared. They completed a course independently, equipped with bicycle helmets and safety vests. Prior to the event, the children participated in two training days with the police.
The Oberhausen Police also conducted a bicycle inspection at Falkenstein School as part of the campaign. Only those who passed both tests and made no more than ten points in the practical test received their bicycle pass at the end.
The police were supported by 16 committed parents who served as observation posts along the test route. A total of 47 students from classes 4a and 4b participated in the inspection.
The nationwide traffic safety campaign, "sicher.mobil.leben," will have a theme of "Children in Focus" on June 3, 2025.
In addition to these initiatives, the Oberhausen Police are urging all road users to drive attentively and considerately, especially when children are present. This reminder is given in the context of preserving life, as #LIFE is the highest good.

It is important to note that children are especially vulnerable on roads due to their small size, limited perception, and lack of experience. The reminder is a call to action for all road users, not just those participating in the "sicher.mobil.leben" campaign.
The reminder does not specify any new safety measures or initiatives beyond the existing "sicher.mobil.leben" campaign. However, it underscores the importance of road safety for children, emphasising the need for vigilance and care to ensure their safety on the roads.
Science plays a crucial role in providing solutions to improve road safety, especially for children, as understanding child psychology and motor development can help design safer traffic training programs and traffic signage.
Health-and-wellness, education-and-self-development, and learning are interconnected with the traffic safety campaign, as the children participating are equipped with knowledge and skills to navigate roads safely, fostering their overall well-being and personal growth.
