Free school supplies for over 8500 children in Astana
In the capital city of Nur-Sultan, a series of initiatives are underway to ensure equal access to education for children from socially vulnerable categories.
The "Good Hands" action is one such initiative, allowing citizens to donate school supplies for children from low-income families. This action is taking place in six districts of the city, including "Mega Silk Way", "Arujan", "Saryarka", "Rahmet", and others. The collected items will be distributed among needy children through schools and public organizations.
In addition, schoolchildren from socially vulnerable categories in Astana are receiving one-time state aid for purchasing clothing, footwear, and school supplies. Applications and documents for the aid can be submitted directly to the school.
To further prepare children for the new school year, school fairs with affordable prices on clothing, stationery, and school supplies are taking place in all districts of Astana from August 2 to 31. These fairs are aimed at helping parents prepare their children without straining the family budget.
The capital's education department is also reminding parents to observe safety measures for children during the summer. This includes installing window locks, preventing unsupervised swimming, storing medications out of reach, and reminding children of road safety rules. The department is emphasizing the importance of monitoring children's safety on playgrounds as well.
Joint patrols with police inspectors are conducted to identify unenrolled children and minors found outside their homes at night without adult supervision.
The government has approved financing for the construction of 406 social and communal facilities with a budget of about 318 billion tenge (~US$604.2 million). These facilities encompass schools and other educational institutions designed to improve access and quality of education for vulnerable groups in Nur-Sultan and other regions.
This large-scale investment in physical infrastructure signals a proactive state effort to enhance educational accessibility and support for disadvantaged children in the capital for the 2025-2026 period.
The "Road to School" charity campaign is another initiative, aiming to cover over 8,500 children. The aid is planned to cover 12,734 students. The campaign provides school backpacks and stationery to children from large, low-income families, and orphans.
These initiatives demonstrate a commitment to ensuring equal educational opportunities for all children in Nur-Sultan, regardless of their economic circumstances.
