Free Language Mediator Training Starts Jan 2026
The district administration office is offering a free training course for language mediators starting in January 2026. Registrations are open until November 21, 2025, and the course consists of five in-person sessions totaling around 18 hours. Upon completion, volunteers will receive a certificate and can begin deployments in March.
The course aims to support people with insufficient language skills in conversations with authorities or counseling services. It is organized by the Verwaltungsbehörde (Administrative Authority), with support from the Nationale Behörde (National Authority) located in the Saxon State Ministry for Regional Development. Those who can speak a second language in addition to German are welcome to register.
Currently, there is a need for French, Somali, Romanian, and Italian language skills. The project, launched in 2016, already involves around 250 volunteers speaking 31 different languages. Reasonable compensation will be provided for each deployment. For more information, visit www.our website/sprachvermittlung.
The language mediator training course offers an opportunity to make a difference in the community while gaining valuable experience. With registrations open until November 21, 2025, interested individuals are encouraged to sign up and contribute their language skills.
