Four Schools Honored for Health Promotion in Wittekindskreis
Renata Lleshi, an employee of the Kreis-Gesundheitsamt, and sports scientist Pascal Kramer recently presented the 'Healthy School in the Wittekindskreis' award to teacher Katrin Wessel and Daniel Gieselmann at Ev. Grundschule Loehne-Obernbeck. The award recognizes the school's commitment to health promotion and prevention activities.
The 'Healthy Schools' program, supported by the Kreis-Gesundheitsamt for nine years, offers free individual and group offers for students and teaching staff, with an overview of contact points in the Herford district for advice on 'growing up and teaching health'. To be recognized, schools must implement at least three health-promoting measures for students and one measure for the health of teaching staff during the project period. At Ev. Grundschule Loehne-Obernbeck, students participated in activities focused on dental health, healthy nutrition, and social skills training with the support of external experts. Pascal Kramer, a sports scientist, led students through exercises that improve coordination, concentration, learning ability, and motivation as part of the certification process.
This year, four schools were honored: Ev. Grundschule Loehne-Obernbeck, Elisabeth-von-der-Pfalz-Berufskolleg in Herford, Grundschule in Westerenger, and Erich-Kaestner-Gesamtschule in Bünde and Kirchlengern. The program awards a certificate to committed schools, recognizing them as a 'Healthy School'.
