Former Yale President Peter Salovey Returns to Teaching
Former Yale University President Peter Salovey is set to return to teaching next year. Known affectionately as 'Easy A Salovey' among alumni, he is considering a seminar on the psychology of leadership and a lecture on emotional intelligence.
Salovey, who last taught in fall 2012, is known for his dynamic teaching style and friendly personality. Dozens of alumni have expressed enthusiasm for his return, crediting him with influencing their career choices. Despite not planning to teach 'Introduction to Psychology' again due to field changes, he went above and beyond to accommodate a student in a wheelchair, teaching her one-on-one when she couldn't attend class.
Since the end of his presidency, Salovey has focused on advancing emotional intelligence research. He has worked on several projects, including an article on emotional intelligence and research on human jealousy and envy. He has also participated in academic collaborations and educational initiatives beyond preparing his upcoming book of speeches.
Salovey's return to teaching is anticipated by alumni and the academic community. His planned seminars on leadership and emotional intelligence are expected to enrich the university's curriculum. His dedication to students, demonstrated by his past accommodations, ensures a positive learning environment.
