Five Guys Named Global Restaurant Leader of the Year for International Impact

Five Guys, the popular global entry point for fast-casual dining, has been recognised for its global impact. It has been awarded the first-ever Restaurant Business Global Restaurant Leader of the Year award. The honour comes as the company celebrates its international growth and commitment to community service and innovation.

The company, founded in 1986 by Jerry and Janie Murrell, has come a long way from its humble beginnings. It opened its first international location in Canada in 2010 and in London in 2013. Today, Five Guys boasts 450 locations in 29 countries, with $1.1 billion in international system sales in 2024.

Five Guys' success can be attributed to its simple, customizable burger menu that has resonated with international markets. The chain has grown to become the largest fast-casual burger chain in the U.S., with $2.3 billion in system sales in 2024. This global expansion proves that fast-casual chains can indeed succeed outside North America.

The Global Restaurant Leader of the Year award, to be presented at the Global Restaurant Leadership Conference in Barcelona in November, recognizes Five Guys' international growth, community service, innovation, and partnership. The company continues to make waves in the global food industry, with its simple yet effective business model and commitment to excellence.
