Expansion construction at Dreieich's Gerhart-Hauptmann school

The Gerhart Hauptmann School in Offenbach's Sprendlingen district is currently undergoing a significant expansion, set to transform the primary school into a four-winged, full-day capable institution. This project, aimed at providing better balance between family and career for residents of Dreieich, is part of efforts to make Dreieich a more livable city.

The district of Offenbach will cover the majority of the financing, contributing approximately 12 million euros, with an additional 2.6 million euros coming from funding for the expansion of full-day care. The city of Dreieich will also contribute 2.4 million euros towards the care costs. The total costs of the construction project amount to around 17 million euros.

The new three-story building, to be constructed on the Schlesienweg site, will include eight additional classrooms, differentiation rooms, a library, and one music and one workshop room each. Modern ventilation systems with heat recovery will ensure good indoor air quality, while the PV system will be installed on a green retention roof, and heating will be provided via a split heat pump in conjunction with an existing heat network.

The expansion will also see the addition of a dining hall with an attached kitchen and spacious recreational pedagogical areas for full-day operation. Barrier-free access will be ensured by the installation of an elevator.

During the construction period, the school's teaching operation will continue uninterrupted. The new rooms will be equipped with digital whiteboards and comprehensive Wi-Fi. The outdoor facilities will be adapted in parallel with the structural expansion.

The completion of the new building at the Gerhart Hauptmann School in Sprendlingen is scheduled for Q3 of 2027. This expansion is a significant step towards providing good and comprehensive primary school childcare in Dreieich and northern Sprendlingen.

For those seeking more detailed information on this project, it is recommended to consult official Offenbach city planning or education department releases or contact the Gerhart Hauptmann School administration directly.
