EU's Erasmus+ Programme Benefits 1.3 Million in 2023

In 2023, the EU's Erasmus+ learning mobility programme reached a significant milestone, benefiting over 1.3 million students and teachers. With a total budget of over EUR 4.5 billion, the programme expanded digital skills, prioritised inclusion, and supported projects affected by the Russia-Ukraine war.

The Erasmus+ programme saw a substantial increase in participants acquiring digital skills, with 31,890 individuals gaining new abilities through mobility and training activities. The programme placed a strong emphasis on inclusion and diversity, reaching over 200,000 people with fewer opportunities.

The 2023 Erasmus+ Annual Report underscored the programme's commitment to lifelong learning and international cooperation. Notably, 23% of participants opted for low-emission transport during their travels. Furthermore, the programme allocated funds to support projects addressing the consequences of the Russia-Ukraine war, primarily aiding Ukraine and countries involved in humanitarian aid and integration efforts related to the Ukrainian crisis.

The Erasmus+ programme's 2023 achievements highlight its positive impact on education, digital skills, inclusion, and cooperation. By supporting projects affected by the Russia-Ukraine war, the programme demonstrates its responsiveness to global challenges.
