Dubai's Early Childhood Education Sector Booms with 8% Enrolment Increase
Dubai's private early childhood education sector has witnessed a significant boost, with an 8 percent increase in enrolment over the past year. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) and the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department have played a key role in this growth, opening the Al Freej Nurseries, a new centre focused on Islamic values and national heritage.
Over 29,600 children are now attending these centres, reflecting strong parental confidence in Dubai's early childhood education. The sector offers 17 different curricula, with the UK Early Years Foundation Stage being the most popular. The growth is evident in the numbers: 38 new centres opened between June 2024 and June 2025, bringing the total to 312 facilities. Among the 29,600 children, over 2,400 are Emirati students, representing one of the largest nationalities alongside Indian and British students.
Several existing centres have expanded their age provision to welcome younger children. The sector employs a significant workforce, with more than 2,500 teachers and 2,600 teaching assistants supporting the growth and development of these young learners.
The opening of Al Freej Nurseries and the overall 8 percent increase in enrolment indicate a thriving early childhood education sector in Dubai. With a diverse range of curricula and nationalities represented, the sector continues to grow and adapt to meet the needs of Dubai's families.
