The Volkshochschule Bottrop is gearing up for an exciting second semester in 2025, with over 350 courses available for citizens. One of the highlights is the new cultural format, "Art in the Cinema," in cooperation with the Museum Center Quadrat.

The screenings, which kick off on September 4 with "Loving Vincent" and continue on October 2 with "Big Eyes," will be introduced by museum director Dr. Linda Walther with short lectures on the portrayed artists. Additional dates for "Art in the Cinema" have been planned in November, December, and February.

The Volkshochschule will be present at the after-work market on August 21 and September 4, giving interested parties a chance to learn more about the courses on offer. Registration for the second semester begins on August 25, 2025, and can be done online via www.vhs-bottrop.de or via the registration form in the program brochure, which has a print run of 7,000 copies and will be distributed at known distribution points in the city area. The second semester begins on September 15, 2025.

In addition to "Art in the Cinema," the Volkshochschule Bottrop offers a wide range of creative courses, including acrylic and watercolor painting, drawing, and specialized workshops. A notable creative course is "Drawing Connects," which provides a space for encounter, exchange, and joint creation for people of all ages and backgrounds.

The program also includes practical courses such as "AI in Daily Life - Your Digital Assistant for More Quality of Life" and "ChatGPT & Co. - Using Artificial Intelligence for Yourself." The topic of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is being explored in the lecture "Deepfakes and AI Art: Between Creativity and Manipulation."

Movement and dance courses such as Tanzimprovisation and Bachata are also available, as well as culinary workshops ranging from Persian and Peruvian cuisine to Meal Prep for Professionals.

On October 27, Israeli journalist and author Igal Avid will be a special guest at the VHS, reading from his book "...and it became light!". A workshop for caring relatives will be held during Dementia Week in cooperation with the Paritätischen.

The Volkshochschule Bottrop is focusing on innovative offers for cognitive and mental resilience in the area of health. Multimedia travel reports with local snacks in the Film Forum take you to various locations, including Armenia, the Arctic, and Namibia.
