Celebration Embracing Variety: The Festival of Diversity
The city of Aschaffenburg recently hosted the Festival of Diversity, an event aimed at showcasing the varied reasons behind migration and the diverse origins of people in the city.
The Digital Shop, the City, the Stiftsarchive, FAIA, and the city's Integration Management were among the organisers of the festival. The city's tent was a popular destination for visitors, offering a variety of interactive activities.
The Integration Management contributed various activities to the overall program, including an intercultural quiz, face painting for children, spice mixing, and a writing workshop on the theme of "Freedom and Democracy".
Visitors at the festival could provide details about their personal migration reasons, known as "push and pull factors". The "pull factors" referred to reasons for migrating to Germany, such as the rule of law, safety, or education. On the other hand, "push factors" referred to reasons for leaving one's home country, including war, poverty, persecution, or natural disasters.
The world map at the festival showed the diverse origins of people in Aschaffenburg. Visitors could place a pin on a large world map at their country of origin or birthplace.
The city administration staff and volunteer helpers were delighted with the participation of visitors at their activities during the festival. They were also pleased with the high number of interested visitors at their tent. The festival was well-attended, and it offered numerous information and activities for both children and adults.
Overall, the Festival of Diversity was a success, providing a platform for people to share their stories and experiences, and fostering a sense of unity and understanding in the community.
