Book by Kicillof on Pope Francis to be distributed in schools across Buenos Aires unveiled

In a move that aligns with his progressive educational policy, Governor Axel Kicillof recently presented the book "The Teacher: The Humanism of Pope Francis" in Buenos Aires. This book, edited by Miguel Vallone and Florencia Sierra, aims to bring the ideas of Pope Francis, a champion of social justice and humanism, to the city's schools.

The General Directorate of Culture and Education proposes this book as a reflection on Pope Francis' educational heritage, particularly during his twelve years of pontificate. School, according to Pope Francis, has the challenge of breaking the humanitarian crossroads that the contemporary world suffers, recovering solidarity and fraternal ties, especially towards the most vulnerable sectors.

The book, which has three chapters and 166 pages, will be distributed in the public educational institutions of the province. This decision, Kicillof highlighted, is a part of the educational policy.

The presentation ceremony was attended by the Director General of Culture and Education, Alberto Sileoni, and the Archbishop of the city, Monsignor Gustavo Carrara. During the event, Kicillof used the opportunity to question the libertarian management of education, stating that educational cuts are a programmed suicide of a society.

Kicillof's approach to education contrasts with libertarian management, which favors minimizing state control, reducing public spending, and increasing private sector participation and individual choice. In contrast, Kicillof's administration is characterized by significant government involvement in education, with a budget reflecting an ideologically motivated agenda.

The distribution of "The Teacher" can be seen as part of efforts to shape civic and moral education, consistent with Kicillof's progressive and social justice-oriented policies. The book, through Pope Francis' teachings, promotes the pedagogy of inclusion and encounter, aligning with Kicillof's emphasis on social justice and humanism.

Minister Sileoni also emphasized Pope Francis as an educator who transmitted his teachings through ideas and gestures, promoting the pedagogy of inclusion and encounter. The General Directorate of Culture and Education, in bringing this book to Buenos Aires schools, aims to bring the ideas of an Argentine concerned about the life of his people and about a school that embraces, teaches, and leaves no one behind.

In summary, the policy behind distributing "The Teacher" reflects a government-led, value-driven public education strategy, focused on collective social principles and moral formation, set against libertarian demands for minimal state involvement and educational market freedom. This represents a fundamental ideological and operational divergence between Kicillof’s governance approach and libertarian educational management.

The General Directorate of Culture and Education, in agreement with Governor Axel Kicillof's educational policy, aims to distribute "The Teacher" in schools, promoting a lifestyle that aligns with Pope Francis' teachings on social justice, humanism, and inclusion. This decision is a part of Kicillof's education strategy, which prioritizes collective social principles and moral formation, distinguished from libertarian management's focus on minimizing state control and educational market freedom. Furthermore, the book's education-and-self-development content encourages the pedagogy of encounter, embodying Kicillof's emphasis on a school that embraces, teaches, and leaves no one behind.
