Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Boosts Student Aid, Hikes DA Ahead of Festivals
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced several initiatives to benefit students and state employees. The government has increased scholarship amounts, dearness allowance, and approved various proposals ahead of festivals.
The Bihar government has enhanced financial support for students. Under the scheme, students in classes 1-4 will now receive Rs 1,200 annually, those in classes 5-6 will get Rs 2,400, and students in classes 7-10 will receive Rs 3,600.
In a move to boost the purchasing power of state employees and pensioners, the dearness allowance (DA) has been increased by 3 per cent. Effective from July 1, 2025, the DA will rise from 55 per cent to 58 per cent. This hike will benefit lakhs of government employees, pensioners, and family pensioners in Bihar, but it will also put an additional burden of Rs 917.78 crore on the state exchequer in the financial year 2025-26.
Ahead of Diwali and Chhath, the Bihar government has approved 129 proposals. Additionally, the Chief Minister's Boys and Girls Scholarship Scheme has seen its assistance doubled.
These measures, implemented by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, aim to provide relief and support to students and state employees in Bihar. The increased scholarship amounts and dearness allowance are expected to positively impact the lives of beneficiaries.
