Baden-Württemberg's Minister Addresses Employment Trends, Notes Vacancy Decline
Dr. Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut, Minister of Economic Affairs, addressed employment trends in Baden-Württemberg on October 24, 2025. She highlighted structural challenges and discussed financial aids for businesses, but no specific social insurance reforms were announced.
The Minister noted a decrease in advertised vacancies, down 8,891 from the previous year, with 75,416 openings in September 2025. Despite this, the unemployment percentage remained stable at 4.7 percent, with 303,099 unemployed in the region.
Last year, the unemployment percentage was 4.3 percent, with 26,049 fewer unemployed. However, youth unemployment rose by 15.5 percent, reaching 4.4 percent and affecting 30,346 young people under 25.
Dr. Hoffmeister-Kraut emphasized the need for social security reforms to secure jobs, lower costs, and boost economic performance. Despite challenges, the region's unemployment percentage remained stable, with slight decreases in overall unemployment and vacancies.
