AUSA Announces Winners of Army Birthday Writing and Artwork Contest

The Association of the U.S. Army (AUSA) has announced the winners of its first-ever Army Birthday Writing and Artwork Contest. Students from kindergarten to college showcased their creativity and connection to the Army, with winners selected across various age categories.

In the 9th-12th Grade category, Sofia Graham from The Colony, Texas, took the top spot with a piece featuring items from her father's service. Meanwhile, Mary Johnson from Chantilly, Virginia, won the 2nd-3rd Grade category with a drawing of herself, her sisters, and their dog, cleverly spelling 'ARMY'.

Anna Johnson, also from Chantilly, won the 6th-8th Grade category with a submission about her experiences as part of an Army family. Cassidy Montgomery, a college student from Lees Summit, Missouri, won the Undergraduate Students category with artwork representing her family's military service. Lastly, Rosemary Stallings from Panama City, Florida, won the 4th-5th Grade category with artwork dedicated to her great uncle, Brig. Gen. John Bissonnette.

The contest, open to students from kindergarten through college, invited participants to reflect on their connection to the Army. The winning entries showcased the diverse experiences and perspectives of young people across the nation, highlighting their appreciation and understanding of the Army's role.
