Aspiring Artists Seeking Admission to the Diploma Program
The Elder Conservatorium of Music is now accepting applications for the Artist Diploma in Performance for the Fall of 2025. This prestigious programme is designed for candidates who have demonstrated advanced practical skills equivalent to successful completion of the third year of an undergraduate performance degree.
To apply, interested individuals must first create an account on the Application Management portal and pay the non-refundable application fee of $100 by December 4. The deadline for application submission is also December 4.
The audition process for the Artist Diploma in Performance is comprehensive and thorough. It consists of a live audition (15 minutes), where candidates play or sing at least three contrasting pieces showcasing their performance ability. A music reading test (sight reading or quick learning) is also required to demonstrate music literacy. Candidates will also participate in a brief interview discussing their musical background, and complete an online musicianship test.
The live audition can take place on the Elder Conservatorium's campus on February 8, 9, 15, or 16. Alternatively, candidates may submit a recorded audition with three contrasting pieces and a Zoom interview.
All audition dates, requirements, and additional information can be found on the auditions & interviews web page. It is important to carefully review this information before submitting your application.
After submitting the application, applicants will be directed to their Applicant Portal, where they can track the receipt of required materials. Notification of admission will be sent on April 1.
The Artist Diploma is offered in the areas of Keyboard Studies, Strings, Vocal Studies, Winds, Brass, and Percussion. It's important to select the appropriate programme before creating your application.
For those who are interested in applying for multiple programmes, such as Music Education and Classical Performance, separate auditions for each programme are required.
The application for Fall 2026 will be available in September 2025. We encourage all eligible candidates to apply for this unique opportunity to further their musical education and advance their performance skills at the Elder Conservatorium of Music.
- To complement their practical skills, prospective students are advised to visit the auditions & interviews web page, where they can find details about learning music literacy through a sight reading or quick learning test.
- For individuals intent on pursuing multiple areas like Music Education and Classical Performance, it's essential to note that separate auditions are required for each programme as part of their education-and-self-development journey.
