Announcement Made Regarding 2019 Atwater Kent Music Contest Champion

In a thrilling turn of events, Eli Stefanacci, a second-year oboist, has clinched the 2019 Atwater Kent Woodwinds/Brass/Percussion Concerto Competition at the Herb Alpert School of Music. The competition, an annual event at the school, sees performance students vying for the opportunity to perform with UCLA Philharmonia, one of Southern California's premier training orchestras.

Stefanacci's winning performance was a captivating rendition of Mozart's Oboe Concerto in C, K. 314. The Department of Music at the Herb Alpert School of Music is delighted about Stefanacci's victory, which grants him the opportunity to showcase his talent as a soloist with UCLA Philharmonia.

The UCLA Philharmonia, the flagship orchestra of the Herb Alpert School of Music, will once again provide a platform for Stefanacci's musical prowess. His first performance with the orchestra will take place on Friday, March 1, 2019, at 8pm in Schoenberg Hall.

In a remarkable display of musical diversity, Matthew Lombard received an Honorable Mention in the same competition. Lombard's performance was a mesmerising interpretation of Yoshimatsu's "Cyber-Bird" Saxophone Concerto.

Maxwell Paulus, another contender, finished as the runner-up in the competition, performing John Williams' Horn Concerto.

Stefanacci's second performance with UCLA Philharmonia will be on Sunday, March 3 at 6pm at LACMA's Bing Theater. Music lovers are eagerly awaiting another chance to witness Stefanacci's exceptional talent as he performs Mozart's Oboe Concerto in C, K. 314 once more.
