Animated Night Showcasing Student Projects from Japan and the United States
The Arena di Verona in Italy will host a unique and captivating event on August 27, 2025, as the "Vivaldi's 'The Four Seasons' Live Animation Concert" takes centre stage. This special concert, titled Viva Vivaldi. The Four Seasons Immersive Concert, promises a multimedia immersive experience that combines live orchestra, light installations, video animations, and cutting-edge technology.
As part of the two-day program entitled "Visual Euphony: Animation & Music," the event will showcase a visual euphony performance of Vivaldi's timeless masterpiece, "The Four Seasons," using Yamaha's "score following" technology. The concert will feature students and faculty from the music departments of Tokyo University of the Arts (Tokyo Geidai) and the University of Southern California (USC), performing The Four Seasons by Vivaldi.
In addition to the Arena di Verona show, related events are scheduled in other locations. On July 26, 2025, an immersive performance featuring a live orchestra, light installations, and video animations will take place at Gasteig München in Germany, as part of the 300th anniversary of The Four Seasons premiere. A series of performances with a live string quartet and video projections will also be held every Saturday in August 2025 at The Underglobe, London.
The event at Arena di Verona is hosted by Tokyo University of the Arts (Tokyo Geidai), University of Southern California, and a website based in Los Angeles. Technical support for the immersive concert is provided by the Center of Innovation Tokyo University of the Arts (Tokyo Geidai) and Yamaha Corporation.
Each season will be accompanied by animated films by renowned independent animators. The animation screening will take place from 6:30 PM to 8:20 PM, with a live animation concert of "Autumn" from Vivaldi's Four Seasons, performed by students and faculty from Tokyo Geidai, scheduled from 8:25 PM to 8:45 PM.
The program aims to bring together emerging talent in the fields of animation and music from both Japan and the United States. All Nippon Airways Co., Ltd. and TAKAGI CO., LTD. sponsor the event. Doors open at 6:00 PM.
