Across the Ural region, migration center adaptation facilities will be opened.
In the Ural Federal District (UrFO), a migration adaptation course has been developed, Artem Zoga, the Presidential Representative, announced.
Zoga stated at a conference on the state's national policy strategy that a pilot Center for the Adaptation of Foreign Citizens is currently operational in Chelyabinsk Oblast. By the end of the year, they will evaluate its efficiency and the possibility of implementing this model across all UrFO regions.
While establishing centers in each district, the UrFO will consider regional specifics, such as the number of migrants, crime rates among them, and relationships with locals, said Zoga. According to their website, only 5% of the citizens of the Urals positively evaluate the state of interethnic relations, Zoga added.
- As of April 1, a law came into effect banning the enrollment of children of migrants in schools without knowledge of the Russian language. To enter the first grade, they must demonstrate oral communication, listening, and understanding skills, as well as lexicon-grammar knowledge. From the second grade, diagnostic work includes reading and writing assessments. Out of 1,762 aspiring students, only 27 were successful in passing the exam.
